Оценка: 85/100. Цена : около 120 лв /статията е от 2014г., когато все още уискитата на Ника носеха означение на възраст и ниска цена – вече тази бутилка струва в пъти повече/.
Nikka Yoichi 10 y.o. single malt whisky
The last few days were pretty interesting for me – it turned out that it is necessary to change my computer, because my old technological comrade wasn’t able follow my rhythm and left me. Boards, chips – all things I don’t understand. And to drown the sorrow of separation I reached for two more, exotic whiskies, coming from Japan. I guess for the most of us Japan is known for its various technological developments and only the few of us associate it with the production of whiskey – moreover, of whiskey with renowned qualities. It turns out that the production of whiskey there, started in 1870, but has gained scale about 1924, when the Yamazaki distillery opened doors and barrels. The Japanese whisky is more related to the Scotch whisky, and that’s why it is spelled „whisky“.
The first whisky I would like to submit to your attention is Nikka Yoichi 10 y.o. single malt whisky. „Nikka“ is a company headquartered in Tokyo. The founder of the company is Masataka Taketsuru, who in 1918 travelled to Scotland to learn the process of distilling Scotch whisky first hand. He gained his experience at the Hazelburn distillery /review of the eponymous whisky can be found in the blog /. Once he soaked experience and knowledge from the „spring“ he returned to Japan and started the production at the Yoichi Distillery. I got a sample of Nikka Yoichi distillate with 45% alcohol content.
The aroma is strong, slightly smoky and peaty. Perceptible is sweet-spicy note, combined with flavor of custard, plum jam, wood and toasted cake layer. After the addition of water became notable nuts and honey. The taste is bitter, expressive, honey, spicy and oily, also and slightly smoky/ peaty. The finish is long, peaty, sweet, combined with the shades of dried apricots.
