Whiskey tasting in Shumen
The beginning is set!
In writing this article I realize that more or less I make self-advertisement, but it seems to me perfectly reasonable to share my impressions and the extremely pleasant emotion, which spread in Zino Club, in Shumen on 18/03/2015. For the first time in the city was held a whiskey tasting event, which I’ll call with the „ready-made“ Masterclass. It was not only the first of its kind in the city, but the first one conducted by me. But my initiative wouldn’t be able to take place without the help of friends around me. First things first.
The idea of a similar class in Shumen crept up on me several months ago. I knew that the organization won’t be easy, but once I shared my ideas with Yuri /the owner of Zino Club, where the tasting took place/ I understood that my idea will be realized. Besides finding the right place, another major problem is finding the respective glasses. And after Yuri provided the necessary area, I took care of finding the problematic glasses. For this purpose, I turned to my friends of Optimist1, in particular to Pepi Keremedchiev, which are the official importer of my favourite Glencairn glasses. 100 glasses were needed for the event, or 17 kg of precious glass, which after just one conversation were provided. And lest you think I’m lying about their beauty, just look at the amazing photo of Michael Nikolaev, who has captured their spirit.
After arranging the logistic issue I continued with choosing the right whiskey, to be offered to the guests. My choice fell on Dalwhinnie 15 y.o., Dalmore 15 y.o. and Glendronach 15 y.o. /which was provided by Vladi from Tobacco bar/. To the initially announced three whiskies, thanks to the friends from Maxxium Bulgaria /in particular Vladi Nikolov/, I added and Bowmore 15 y.o. Darkest single malt whisky, thus we formed a solid quartet of mature beauties. And once we dealt with the organizational tasks, the next was to find friends, which to support the joint initiative between me and Zino Club. And here that the event was attended by 26 people, which I can call friends. The tables were arranged, the glasses were filled and after the guests took their seats, I started my presentation.
Whether my performance was at a good level, I can only guess. But by the smiles of the audience I judge that the tasting went even better than my expectations. I won’t go into details, but I’ll interject that the wonderful moment didn’t leave me in the following few days. And just when it’s time to finish my article, I’ll say something. At the end of my presentation, the attendees /part of which came from Varna especially for the tasting/ in addition to the expected „Goodbye!“, also asked me when am I planning a sequel. After the huge rush of positivism I didn’t need much time and efforts to plan the second tasting event. And so! I decided to continue what I’ve started on 25/04, but this time it will be conducted entirely by the team of Whiskeytemple /an integral part of it is and my girlfriend/, as my goal is to meet our little community with five whiskies from around the world. I don’t want to talk in advance, so expect details.
Cheers, my friends and see you soon! 🙂
