Glencadam 12 y.o. single malt whisky PRV
In the spirit of the upcoming event, organized by Optimist1, on which I will have the opportunity to taste distillates of the „Old Particular“ line of Douglas Laing, I offer you a whisky distilled in the already distant 1998. It’s about Glencadam 12 y.o. single malt whisky, bottled as a part of the „Provenance“ series of Laing.
The distillates from this line have some basic distinctive features. Firstly, they are not distilled by Douglas Laing, but by distillery, as the Laing company only has bought stocks from them with the right to store and bottle them as their own product. What else? The distillates are presented in their natural color and they are non-chill-filtered. The alcoholic strength is almost the perfect for consumption – 46%.
Aroma – dried fruits, slight citrus, light perfume, sweetness, caramel, vanilla, gradually appear and baked fruits – pears, apples and peaches, honey. With water – the fruity notes became stronger, as I caught and peach jam. Taste – dried fruits, malty sweetness, combined with slight spiciness, ginger, vanilla, apricots. With water – the sweetness increases, as appears and slight bitterness. Finish – short to medium, sweetness, buttery, honey, dried apricots and raisins. The water enhances the sweet notes, buttery notes, apricots and nuts.
Assessment: 86-87/100. Price: around 60 lv.
In summary: sweet, slightly spicy whisky with hints of dried fruits.
