Writer`s tears irish whiskey
For the final of Irish reviews I suggest you an interesting and previously completely unknown to me whiskey – Writer`s tears whiskey. It is produced in a small distillery named „Writer`s tears whiskey company“ /according to data from the official site/ owned by Walsh family, which is located in County Carlow.
I had heard about the whiskey that it is a blend of pot still whiskey and malt whiskey. It is triple distilled and aged in bourbon casks. And that’s it. I saw that there are cited verses on the front side of the label.
The aroma was pleasant. Sweet, even slight chocolate. I felt and light grassy notes, as well as aroma of cake layer or other cake soaked in peach juice. It seemed to me lightly „perfumed“. Perceptible are vanilla notes and smell of wood. The taste is slightly oily, sweet and a kind of pleasantly „toasted“. The finish is of medium-length, bearing sweetness, memory of almonds and hazelnuts, as well as buttery flavor. In summary, I can say that the whiskey has pleasantly surprised me.
Assessment: 84-85/100. Price: between 40 and 50 lv.
