Glen Grant The Major`s Reserve single malt whisky
A story for two traffickers and illegal distillers. So begins the being of Glen Grant distillery, „born“ in the Scotland’s Speyside whisky region, and owned by Chivas Brothers and currently of Campari.
Back in time, brothers John and James decided to get on track and took a license to produce whiskey. At the end of the 19th century the company has fallen into the hands of „The Major“ Grant, who was a resourceful young man whose ideas and accomplishments have brought glory to the drink in the future years. Besides the introduction of electric lighting in the distillery, „The Major“ has owned and a car, which for those years was been an event, equivalent to the 15-th salary in Bulgaria. Then occurred and innovations in the production technology of malt whiskey. The strong years of the brand continued in 20-th century, developed in collaboration with Glenlivet.
After so many facts I’m getting thirsty. And so, what has „The Major“ prepared for us? The liquid has pale-brownish, golden color. The aroma is moderate, pleasant with hints of sweet and fruits. The taste progresses, sweet malt, and after adding a few drops of water, the whiskey becomes even more pleasant and good. At the final I recognized nuts, pear and baked dessert, which disappeared fairly after adding the drops of water.
Assessment – 3,7/6. The price of the whiskey is about 26 lv., which for single malt scotch is absolute jiggery-pokery. Pay less than what we get in return. Cheers! 🙂
