Аромат – сушени плодове, палфюм, шери, сладникава нотка, слаба опушеност. Вкус – пикантен, слаб „торф“, шери /и то осезаемо/, стафиди. Финал – средна продължителност, отново торфен привкус, мед и ядки. Оценка: по време на феста съм писал 87/100. Ще ми се да проверя изводите си повторно.

In the previous „episode“ I presented you my brief notes about the history of the Highland park brand and the pleasant impression that the 12 y.o. distillate left on me. In the following lines I’ll submit to your attention two more whiskies of the series, one of which changed my attitude toward the brand.
There are various myths and legends hovering around the brand. I do not intend to copy other people’s articles for the purpose, but I’ll allow myself to touch the knowledge provided by Galin in the site BgBarman. The following lines are inspired by his article and I recommend you read it if you’re interested, as well as everything written there it also brings an incredible amount of knowledge, together with north island wind and light scent of peat / click on „bgbarman“ and the link will take you to the unknown and unusual world of Highland park/. In the previous post I mentioned that the legal foundations of the distillery were laid in the early 19th century. But it turns out that there were another distillery on the same place, illegal one, managed by Magnus Eunson / of the name sounds kind of Scandinavian to you, it is not accidental – Orkney Islands were once ruled by the northern peoples, which have left their cultural heritage on almost every object there/. So that Magnus has been engaged in a number of activities, priority amongst which were that of smuggler and illegal producer of whisky. He distilled it on the hill called „High park“ where Highland Park Distillery now stands. Some say that Sir Eunson was a priest and he often used to hide the whisky under the altar of the church. It is alleged that the tax authorities decided to check it once. Therefore he moved the casks of whisky in his home, arranged them in a specific shape, covered them and put a coffin on them. The neighbors were also called to deceive the authorities, as they had to mourn the supposed dead. So they did. The tax authorities found the crowd around the coffin, as they were told that the deceased died of smallpox. After that, no one has seen any verifiers for months.

Now is the time and place for my notes. Laconic again, but that’s what I could do for the time available at the Fest and therefore I feel obligated to taste these beautiful and delicious distillates again in the future.
Highland park 18 y.o. single malt whisky.
Aroma. Dried fruits, perfume, sherry, sweetish note, light smokiness. Taste – spicy, slight peat, sherry /very tangible/, raisins. Finish – average length, peaty flavor again, honey and nuts. Assessment: during the Fest I wrote 87/100. I’d like to recheck my conclusions.
Highland park 25 y.o. single malt whisky.
Until now it was the oldest distillate that I came across. Two things bothered me – does the tree reflected irreparably on the character of the whisky and is it worth it. The answer is „Yes, it is!“. Before proceed to my notes I’ll interject that HP 25 у.o. became one of my favourite whiskies /a conclusion, based only on the held tasting/.
Aroma. Madeira notes/ sherry, liqueur, sweetness, toasted cake, fruity, perfume. Taste – spicy, sherry, very weak peat and liqueur. Finish – medium, dried fruits, raisins, a dose of sweetness and the already mentioned cake. Briefly: a whisky from another dimension. Assessment: 89/100.
