Charming /Stunning/ Chambord
When it comes to liqueur the first thing that comes to our minds is our grandmother’s dusty bottles , hidden in the dresser and filled with cherries, walnuts and the obligatory quantity raki – homemade drink which I consume and now, when I have the possibility. Fortunately, the world has come to know the other side of liqueur liquids, namely the created by professionals. This exactly applies for the „ball“ shown on the picture – something small and hidden for me until today.
Looking at the bottles of whiskey I came across the chubby silhouette of Chambord. What is it? Briefly – for me it is like the magic potion of gummy bears well known from my childhood. For you – I don’t know. If you love sweets, low-alcohol drinks or you’re willing to experiment then you must look for this liqueur. If not – read to the end and then judge.
Without retell you the story in details the drink is „born“ in France, in the vicinity of the same name castle. Centuries ago it is discovered for the world during the visit of french monarch in the region when the locals decided to surprise him with something unknown to him. Since then, right up to the current minutes and seconds this liqueur is produced in France. The current owners of the brand – Brown and Forman who coincidentally also own the brands such as „Early times“ continue the tradition of the old masters so that we who are situated in thousand miles and hundreds of years from the ancient artists to touch the thick fruit sap.
The liqueur is made by black and red raspberries, mixed with blackberries, blackcurrant, vanilla, orange peels and a dose of magic. Scent – gentle, barely felt. Colour – the colour however, is memorable – dark red, almost tar.
Now about its strongest component – the taste. Even during its spilling the thickness of the drink can be noticed while it’s pouring from the bottle’s neck. The taste is extremely rich – with strongly expressed shades of raspberry and blackcurrant, almost like in concentrate. The alcohol content remains in the background and can’t be otherwise – it’s only 16,5 %. However, this appears to be especially pleasant garnish to the fresh springs hints of fruit. The aftertaste spreads the described freshness to the remote corners of the senses and its slight fading obliges for re-sip. A few words about the bottle – it exudes class and style. Ellipse and short neck are combined in a unique way that won’t remain unnoticed.
Assessment: 5,5/6. Would I like to taste it again – absolutely!
